[/blockquote][/blockquote]Eyes: Green, emphasised by eyeliner, large
Hair: 2 ½ inches long, shock-like, black
Height: 5’11”
General Appearance: He’s always got pale, almost sickly-looking skin as he prefers being indoors and night time; it’s not sensitive though, so it’s free from freckles. With a naturally slender physique, he looks a little spindly but has toned arms and upper torso. His nose is upturned at the end slightly and he has a small, red mouth. Edmund is striking by appearance and generally emphasises attitude through modelling wax in his hair (tugged to a shock-like point), black smudges under the eyes and his dress.
Dressing Style: Keeping up a punk-like image seems very important to him. He generally prefers wearing muggle attire, and his wizard’s robes look quite strange on him. Normally he dons faded t-shirts with ripped sleeves, dark jeans frayed at the bottom and a dirty pair of vans. There’s always a lot going on with accessories: usually he’s heard down the corridor from a distance with the clinking of chains and leather bands around the wrists. Sometimes his nails are painted black.
Basic personality: He comes across as a good-for-nothing punk, but he’s actually quite deep. A bit too deep, as it happens. He’s a big dreamer and has an amazing imagination, but sometimes it gets the better of him and he ends up feeling quite confused. Ed is smart and talented, but people can’t tell that he is. Courageous and understanding, yet separates himself from other people on purpose. He comes across as anti-social but really he’s just lonely, and will talk to anyone he senses has a good, true character. He can sometimes sound rude or ungrateful, but it’s just difficult for him to open up.
Likes: Sleeping in random places, the night sky, openness, wizard duels, potions and loud music.
Dislikes: Bullies, his Mother, false happiness, red meat, magical plants, the smell of hospitals, cliques, pets and mornings.
Habits: Sleep-walking
Strengths: Defensive skills, imagination and good judge of character.
Weaknesses: Sociability, sweet things and impulsiveness.
Parents: Broderick Bode (deceased)- used to be an Unspeakable and Viola Bode (47)- unemployed, squib.
Siblings: None
Background Story: As his wizard Father passed away when Ed was very young, he had been led to believe that he was a muggle for the first eleven years of his life. His Mother Viola, a squib, never re-married and is an anxious, erratic woman who could never cope with looking after Ed all by herself. He is used to the comings and goings of baby sitters and never established a true role model, so he was always confused about his identity. When the Hogwarts letter arrived, Viola had a lot of explaining to do. Her quivering mouth couldn’t sound the words properly and she spoke in a hushed tone, as though reliving the worst moment of her life. He learnt of the true cause of his Father’s death; how he had been brainwashed and manipulated by a powerful wizard (Who Must Not Be Named) and died consequently, having gone mad.
For the first couple of years at Hogwarts, Ed was quiet. The news of his Father had a very big impact on him: everything had gotten so much more confusing. Was his Father someone to look up to, or was he just a failure? Determined to unearth some of the things his Mother was keeping quiet, he ploughed into the matter and found himself tumbling deeper into confusion, denial and frustration. Here we have Ed as he is today, built up of strong barriers and a thirst for knowledge. Part of him wants to become what his Father never could be: a successful role to the Department of Mysteries and a discoverer of truths about his curious, loose-ended world. On the surface, however, he acts tough and thick-skinned. This is simply the survival instinct.
One thing is for certain though: Ed despises his Mother. How could she keep something like that from him? He is sick of her wailing, crying and frailty; wanting very much to move out and be rid of her. So he adopts the rebellious teen coverage, being anti-this and anti-that, just to express his troubled, convoluted mind.
